The Sadako Film Project - How to Fold a Paper Crane
Sadako Sasaki was a Japanese girl who developed leukemia in 1955 due to effects of radiation poisoning from the bombing of Hiroshima. After hearing about a Japanese legend that folding one thousand paper cranes would bring a wish to make her well, she began folding. Today the paper crane symbolizes a desire for world peace.
