- An actor, he was born in 1964 in Beirut, Lebanon to his Chinese-Hawaiian father and English mother. His name means "cool breeze over the mountains" in Hawaiian.
- A three-man group from Philadelphia's independent hip-hop scene, their talents have earned themselves a place in history as the first Asian American hip-hop group to be signed on to a major label. Their name was taken from an ancient Chinese tale of bandits who pillaged the corrupt and wealthy for the benefit of the less fortunate.
- She was the first Asian American to star in her own television show, "All-American Girl," a sitcom about a Korean American family. She is currently a successful stand-up comedian performing sold-out shows across the country.
- She designed the Vietnam Veterans Memorial while still a senior at Yale University. She draws inspiration for her sculpture and architecture from culturally diverse sources, including Japanese gardens, Hopewell Indian earthen mounds and works by American earthworks artists of the 1960s and 1970s.
- She is a London-born writer, the daughter of Bengali parents, who has spent considerable time, since childhood, with her extended family in Calcutta, India. These experiences helped her to use Calcutta as the setting for three of the nine stories in her debut collection, Interpreter of Maladies, which won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 2000.

During her senior year in college, she and her family were sent to live in a Japanese internment camp. Her books reflect an interest in ethnic identity, Japanese culture and the Japanese American experience in the United States.
- He was the first and only Filipino to be exhibited at the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art. He took the New York City art world by storm in the 1940s.
