Tomás Rivera Mexican American Children's Book Award Winners
The Tomás Rivera Award is presented annually by Texas State University, in honor of author Tomás Rivera, a native of Crystal City, Texas, who was the first Mexican American to be selected Distinguished Alumnus at Texas State University. This children's book award is an effort to sustain Rivera's view of Mexican Americans as a healthy and responsible community, and reaffirms his hope for the education of Mexican Americans in the Southwest and the greater United States.
