Welcome to Storytime Connection!

Storytime Connection is a grant-funded early literacy program presented by the Austin Public Library and the Dell Foundation. Storytime Connection volunteers use theme related kits to present their Storytimes at childcare centers in the city of Austin. Each kit contains a variety of toddler or preschool appropriate books, puppets, flannel boards, and finger-plays/songs. Volunteers receive training and support from library staff on Storytelling techniques.

Each week, on the regularly scheduled morning, Storytime Connection volunteers present one or two Storytimes at an assigned childcare center. During the course of their service, the volunteers will develop a relationship with the staff and the children during these weekly visits. It is through this relationship that the Storytime Connection mission of developing literacy skills will be achieved.
